There will be fundraisers atop the highest mountains in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland this summer, while others run, cycle and some eat cake - all in the good fight against iron overload! While others fondly remember loved ones gone too soon because of haemochromatosis.

Gemma Thompson has raised the throughly impressive total of £1,795 in memory of her amazing Dad, Ronnie Thompson who passed away on 24 November 2022 due to Haemochromatosis. Gemma is also amazing for hiking in Spain and taking on the UK nations' highest peaks.

Sadly, we hear all too often of people dying with the condition. Kate for example is raising funds in memory of her cousin. On her fundraising page she says, "my lovely cousin died unexpectantly, far too young, as a result of haemochromatosis". In her memory, Kate is helping to raise awareness and support the early diagnosis of and research into this genetic disease.

Neil Crowe has organised a Yorkshire three peaks Bamber Bridge Challenge with friends in solidarity with one of their great friends Michael Taylor (Micky T) who was recently diagnosed with the condition - raising a fantastic sum of £1,396.

In April this year, Rachel Lane raised over £1,000 running the London Marathon while our runners Paul Townley, Mark Venn, Sammy Park, Emma Moxham, Bethan Weston Smith are training for the London Vitality 10k in September. Mark and the team of Sammy and Emma have both raised over £1,000 already for Haemochromatosis UK. Outstanding.

Matt Thompson completed the challenging NC500 in June/July raising £1,251 for this charity while Jane Rosse cycling from Cambridge to St. Ives has reached a total of £825. Brilliant.

Just getting started for events in October, fundraisers Simon Shore will be running the Manchester Marathon, while Mitchell Bibb is taking on the marathon in Chester.

We are also very grateful to the team fundraising led by Estrelita Balentogo in the nurse-led venesection clinic on LOPD at Kings College Hospital raising a super amount of £326.
