Until very recently I had no idea what haemochromotosis was, that was until one of my family was diagnosed with the condition and informed it was a genetic condition.

A great believer that prevention is better than cure I am now in the process of determining whether I have raised levels of iron in my blood so I may take the necessary actions to prevent the organ damage that can occur if the condition remains untreated.

I was amazed through my reading on the subject how a blood test and simple course of action could be so beneficial .

I then read of how so many potential cases of haemochromotosis go undiagnosed at these early stages to prevent the long term damage that can result from the condition.

For this reason I am supporting Haemochromotosis UK in the great work they do. Paul Townley
