  • What will be your legacy?

What will be your legacy?

Haemochromatosis UK was founded in 1991. Since then, we’ve made good progress. But we mustn’t become complacent…

Over 380,000 people in the UK are at risk of iron overload. Too many people are dying of avoidable liver cancer, diabetes, heart disease or liver disease caused by genetic haemochromatosis. Too many people are living in acute pain, from joints and bones damaged by iron overload.

Our vision is a world in which genetic haemochromatosis is diagnosed and treated promptly, before any damage is done. We seek a world where everyone affected by genetic haemochromatosis has access to high-quality care and the support - and the information and resources necessary to improve their quality of life.

By leaving a gift in your will to Haemochromatosis UK, you’ll help us continue to fight for public awareness and timely, effective care and support for people affected by genetic haemochromatosis.

Start Your Free Will

Our promise

Firstly, we’d like to thank you for considering leaving a gift to Haemochromatosis UK in your will.

We know that this is a deeply personal decision.

We promise to :

  • Respect your privacy – no one will contact you or ask about your choices
  • Understand and respect that your family and loved ones come first
  • Make best use of your gift - to help people affected by genetic haemochromatosis
  • Respect your right to change your mind about your gift at any time - change your will online or just let us known at any time

How to leave us a gift

We know how important it is to write a will. But most people don’t get around to it.

So, we’ve teamed up with Farewill, to provide all our Friends Against Iron Overload and all our members with a free will writing service. This usually costs over £90. But to thank you for your support, our charity covers the cost of this will writing service, exclusively for our members and FAIO supporters.

Start Your Free Will

There’s absolutely no obligation to leave a gift in your will to Haemochromatosis UK. The will-writing service is free for you*, with our best wishes.

Make your will online in four simple steps, from the comfort of your own home. The will-writing specialists at Farewill are available by telephone and online to help with any questions you may have. You can even pause and come back to update your will at any time.

* This service is provided subject to Farewill's terms & conditions and is available to residents of England, Wales, Scotland or Northern Ireland writing a will under local applicable law. There is an optional £10 per year charge for changes to your will after its been drafted. This is totally optional and there is no obligation for you to select this option, if you don’t want to.

We are here for you

We hope you will consider leaving a gift in your will to Haemochromatosis UK. Gifts in wills make a huge difference to the lives of people with genetic haemochromatosis, for generations to come. This can be your legacy.

We'd love to know if you have mentioned us in your will, as we'd really appreciate the chance to say thank you and welcome you to Haemochromatosis UK as a Friend Against Iron Overload. Let us know if you've already pledged a gift or plan to.

You'll receive an exclusive FAIO pin badge, unique insights into our work and invitations to exclusive events. We absolutely promise that any information you share with us will be kept in the strictest confidence.

If you would like to talk to someone, or if you would like to discuss a specific purpose for your legacy, please contact our CEO Neil McClements for a private discussion. There’s no obligation and we’re pleased to match your legacy to a specific project or area of concern, of your choice.
