The first week of June is National Volunteers Week

We're celebrating the amazing contribution that volunteers make to the life & work of the charity. Whether its helping at events, being a friend to someone newly diagnosed as a GH Buddy, helping moderate our Facebook Support Group or guiding us via the TNL England Steering Group, the contribution volunteers makes is simply amazing! Thank you, everyone.

Recognising Our "Hidden Haemochromatosis Heroes"

We’re delighted to announce that 2 of our amazing “hidden haemochromatosis heroes” have been awarded a free short break, courtesy of Room to Reward!

The lucky volunteers are :

  • Nigel – for steadfast support of others through our helpline and GH Buddy Scheme. We know from buddy feedback just how much people value Nigel’s help!
  • Neil H – for his tremendous globetrotting support at clinician conferences – wherever, whenever!

We're also delighted to announce the winners of the inaugural Janet Furnau Volunteering Impact Award.

Eliza (left) and Elisha (right) received the award in recognition of their volunteering efforts as Facebook Support Group moderators over the past year.

The award was instituted in 2023, memory of our founder Janet Furnau MBE to recognise up to two volunteers who have made the most contribution or impact in their first 12 months of volunteering with us.

The lucky winners each clinched a £150 gift voucher in recognition of their efforts. Well done, both!
