This month we're launching our new RCGP-accredited online eLearning module for general practitioners and primary care practitioners.

The module was developed from scratch for Haemochromatosis UK, by two experienced GP's with lived experience of the condition - Dr Susan Hancock (FRCGP) and Dr Doug Jenkinson (FRCGP).

Following a rigorous peer-review process in the Spring, the Royal College of GPs has accredited the module and will promote it to their 50,000 membership from next month. The module includes a post-course assessment which leads to the award of 2 CPD points for RCGP members who pass the assessment, demonstrating their knowledge and understanding of GH, its symptoms and treatment.

General practitioners and primary care nurses have been generous in their praise of the new module, which replaces an earlier edition first published in 2019 :

  • "Very well written, informative and reflective module. I feel the information is ideal and appropriately targeted for primary care."
  • "Excellent. Very informative. Easy to follow and understand with great care taken to allow the reader to understand the illness. Good choice of further reading if needed."
  • "The e-learning was interesting and informative with good graphics that held my interest. Overall it was really useful in expanding my knowledge of haemochromatosis and explaining the process of diagnosing and treating."

This module compliments our RCN-accredited eLearning module for nurses, which is now in its second edition.

We will be promoting the module to general practitioners over the coming months. Look out for the postcards and posters!
