Our charity has started a health economics project in collaboration with York Health Economics Consortium, Dr Janice Atkins of the Epidemiology and Public Health Group at University of Exeter Medical School and Dr Barbara de Graaf (University of Tasmania).

The project is focussed on developing a cost of illness model associated with GH in the United Kingdom and associated report for presentation to policymakers, elected representatives and the APPG on GH later this year.

Funded by the Shears Foundation, our Friends Against iron Overload and two family foundations, this study hopes to demonstrate that early diagnosis saves lives and that the UK government should prioritise the improved care of people affected by genetic haemochromatosis.

The research team are keen to understand your experiences of venesection (and/or chelation) treatment to help inform this study.

You can help by completing our online survey before 28th May (takes 3 minutes, anonymous).
