Real GH stories, real lives... In the Autumn, we’re launching a project in Northern Ireland to photograph people with genetic haemochromatosis (GH), to tell their stories to help raise awareness of the condition. We’re thrilled to be collaborating on this creative journey with Cathal McNaughton, Pulitzer Prize winning photographer. Cathal spent 20 years on the road covering wars, conflicts and other human interest stories for Reuters and the Press Association before returning to his native Antrim. Previous work has included portraiture of "Hurricane" Higgins (below) and people during the Troubles. His recent exhibition explored the effects of the Ukraine conflict on people living on the front line. We’re planning an exhibition of the images in Derry-Londonderry, Belfast and London – plus a book sharing the journey and the lives behind the images. This will be a truly memorable account of life with GH, helping to raise awareness and encouraging the public to get tested for this common but rarely diagnosed condition. We're looking for volunteers based in NI to get involved - could that be you?If you are based in N Ireland and would like to get involved, register your interest online here.
