The upcoming meeting of the APPG for Genetic Haemochromatosis on 15 May will consider a paper presented by Haemochromatosis UK which outlines how the adoption of consistent clinical guidelines for patient pathways will contribute to newly expounded NHS objective. The view from the charity is that new NHS emphasis on the prevention of ill health, the application of technology, reducing hospital visits, addressing causes of mental health problems are all aligned with its objective of consistent, adopted guidelines for GH across the country.

Other topics for discussion with a view to requesting papers for the subsequent meeting will be the case for a health economics study of GH, and whether there needs to be a fresh look at the regulations surrounding food and supplement labelling in respect of iron fortification.

Minutes will be published on this site shortly after the meeting.
